The Healing Ministry is here to serve you, our congregation, to pray for you through Spiritual Mind treatment. We commit ourselves to daily meditation and treatment in order that we remain conscious of the presence of God in all we think, say and do. We maintain an awareness of the Spiritual identity of every person. So if you have need of prayer to help you through trying times in health, finances, relationships, career or need greater peace of mind and connection to God, or support in your new adventures in life, please call on us for assistance. Prayer Treatment through the Healing Ministry is available by: Filling out the form located on the Healing Ministry box in the foyer and placing it in the box. By calling our office at (310) 540-5080, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sending a letter to the Center in care of the Healing Ministry with your request. Rainbow Services (Shelters for Women and Children of Domestic Violence) Every August we collect school supplies for needy children and deliver them to Rainbow Services to distribute to the children and their families. Angel Tree Practitioners coordinate the giving of Christmas gifts to 50 needy families. Loving Acts of Kindness We want our members to know that they are cherished and cared for even when they are not able to be at our services. This program embodies the act of giving to others in a deep and meaningful way.

It’s first services were held at the Masonic Temple at 116 Ruby Street in Redondo Beach. The church began with twelve members and a pastor named Dr. A Schultz. WHO WAS ERNEST HOMES? Ernest Holmes is the founder of Religious Science whose spiritual philosophy is known as “The Science of Mind.” Born in 1887 in Lincoln, Maine, Ernest Holmes left his school and family at the age of 15 to move to Boston, Massachusetts, where he discovered Mary Baker Eddy's Science and Health as well as Christian Science. In 1912, he relocated to Venice, California, joining his brother Fenwicke and immersing himself in the study of various influential writers such as Thomas Troward, Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Walker Atkinson, and Christian D. Larson. Holmes married Hazel Durkee Foster in 1927, and following years of touring and speaking engagements, he settled in Los Angeles to complete his seminal work, The Science of Mind, which was published in 1926. Holmes founded the Institute of Religious Science and School of Philosophy, published Science of Mind magazine, and continually expanded his speaking venues. Over time, his organization underwent several name changes and is now known as The Centers for Spiritual Living. Holmes' teachings and philosophy continue to resonate, offering a profound spiritual path, insights into our connection with the Universe, and a joyful approach to daily living. WHAT IS NEW THOUGHT Despite its name, New Thought isn't actually new. New Thought tradition originated in the 1880s and draws inspiration from the philosophical idealism of Classical Greece and the Transcendentalist Movement of the 1830s. It's origins go back to classical Greek philosophy and P. P. Quimby, the founder of New Thought, even claimed that the movement had rediscovered Jesus' healing methods. New Thought combines philosophical idealism with a practical focus on addressing humanity's challenges and promoting healing. Throughout its history, New Thought has been shaped by influential figures such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thomas Troward, Emma Curtis Hopkins, Phineas Quimby, and Walt Whitman. Present-day authors who embody New Thought teachings include Michael Bernard Beckwith, Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Byron Katie, Caroline Myss, Gregg Braden, Eckhart Tolle, and many others. The teachings of New Thought encompass the wisdom of various spiritual traditions across time. Our community welcomes individuals from all spiritual paths and those who are seeking a spiritual path of their own. Practitioners Finding Inspiration in Every Turn A Practitioner is a person of high spiritual consciousness and deep understanding, trained in the study of the Science of Mind and “Treatment.” Treatment is the art, science, and skill of Affirmative Prayer. Practitioners are dedicated to the cause of helping others, licensed to practice professionally, and bound by a high code of ethics to respect your privacy. A full appointment is more interactive with the practitioner in order to discover more about the belief that is causing disharmony. Each practitioner comes from a loving space of nonjudgment and confidentiality. What Is Affirmative Prayer? The use of Affirmative Prayer (sometimes referred to as a “Spiritual Mind Treatment” or just “Treatment”) in our daily lives gives us the privilege of choosing the direction of our thoughts, so we are in harmony with a Power greater than we are, and brings our experience out of the darkness of limitation. It is a very powerful tool used to change one’s thoughts, one’s beliefs, and one’s experiences in a positive way. Do I Need a Practitioner? Practitioners are dedicated to the cause of helping others, licensed to practice professionally, and bound by a high code of ethics to respect your privacy. Ask yourself the following questions: Am I too close to my own problem to see the situation clearly? Do I feel that something is blocking that which I am seeking? Do I feel that I lack the experience with, the training in, or the understanding of the Science of Mind principles necessary to resolve the difficulty? If any of these questions can be answered “Yes,” a Practitioner can be very beneficial and helpful to you. FAQs Once I decide to seek the services of a practitioner, what do I do next? When you have decided to seek the services of a Practitioner, you can help by trusting the process: Have faith in the Mind of God. It is Omnipotent and It does the work. Contemplate your challenge and get clear on what you want to accomplish in consciousness. Release your problem by giving it to your Practitioner. Be ready to move forward in consciousness and accept a healing. Endeavor to keep a positive attitude. Be expectant, accepting every good thing as part of your demonstration. Be thankful. Give thanks for the wonderful change that is taking place in your life. Do I need to be present in order for Affirmative Prayer to work? No. Affirmative Prayers are just as effective if the Practitioner is in your presence, on the telephone, or on the other side of the world. There is only One Mind: One Infinite Intelligence and that Mind is everywhere present. Can I do Affirmative Prayer for myself? Yes. The Practitioner will also assist you in the process and correct use of Affirmative Prayer. For example, the following simple Affirmative Prayer alone can raise your consciousness and your level of acceptance of good in your life, "There is One Universal Life, and I am unified with It. I declare that within this Divine Life, there is all that I need for a healthy, happy, prosperous life. I accept this good gladly, turning away from any appearance to the contrary. In deep gratitude I give thanks – I let go and let God. And so it is." After I receive the services of a practitioner, what can I do to assist in the manifestation of my good? Have faith in the healing power of the “Spirit within”. Use the Affirmative Prayer given to you by the Practitioner as many times as necessary every day. Focus on your desired outcome. Keep a positive attitude. Be grateful. Give heartfelt thanks, knowing the wonderful changes that are taking place in your life. Why is there a cost to work with a practitoner? Practitioners have taken at least 3 years of Science of Mind classes. They have done their own spiritual work and continue to invest in themselves. They are professionals and their experience, knowledge, skills, and time are valued. Recognize that treatment work is never withheld because of an inability to pay. Simply explain to the Practitioner, and ask for work in the area of prosperity so that you can start to heal that and be in a stable financial condition.
