Explore the many ways you may contribute to the Redondo Beach Center for Spiritual Living’s shared vision of sustainability and growth: Bequests - Wills and Trusts Consider creating a lasting impact by adding RBCSL to your will or trust. It is flexible as you may designate a specific amount or asset, a percentage of your estate, or what is left in your estate after other obligations have been met. Beneficiary Designations through your IRA, 401(k) or 403(b) account Consider adding RBCSL as one of your beneficiaries to your tax deferred savings account(s). Gifts through your IRA, 401(k) or 403(b) account If you have a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) at or above age 73 from your tax deferred savings account, donating directly a portion, up to the total RMD, from your tax deferred savings account may lower your taxable income. The funds must transfer directly from your IRA to RBCSL. Gifts of Stock and Appreciated Securities Instead of cash, you may use appreciated stocks, bonds and mutual fund shares to make a gift. You may be able to claim a federal income tax charitable deduction for the full appreciated value of the securities and may avoid paying any capital gains tax on the transaction. Life Insurance If you have an existing life insurance policy, naming RBCSL as a full or partial beneficiary may allow your ultimate gift to be far greater than your original investment in the policy. Ernest Holmes is the founder of Religious Science whose spiritual philosophy is known as “The Science of Mind.” Born in 1887 in Lincoln, Maine, Ernest Holmes left his school and family at the age of 15 to move to Boston, Massachusetts, where he discovered Mary Baker Eddy's Science and Health as well as Christian Science. In 1912, he relocated to Venice, California, joining his brother Fenwicke and immersing himself in the study of various influential writers such as Thomas Troward, Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Walker Atkinson, and Christian D. Larson. Holmes married Hazel Durkee Foster in 1927, and following years of touring and speaking engagements, he settled in Los Angeles to complete his seminal work, The Science of Mind, which was published in 1926. Holmes founded the Institute of Religious Science and School of Philosophy, published Science of Mind magazine, and continually expanded his speaking venues. Over time, his organization underwent several name changes and is now known as The Centers for Spiritual Living. Holmes' teachings and philosophy continue to resonate, offering a profound spiritual path, insights into our connection with the Universe, and a joyful approach to daily living.
